Eden Hazard intends to stay at Real Madrid until the end of his contract in 2024

Eden Hazard has reportedly decided to see out his contract at Real Madrid, which expires in 2024.

The former Chelsea star has endured a dismal spell with the Spanish giants since his move in 2019 for a fee rising to a potential £150m.

Having excelled over a seven-year-spell at Stamford Bridge, he has scored just seven goals for Los Blancos and regularly struggled for fitness and form.

There has been significant speculation over his future in recent months with the 126-capped former Belgian international having not played for the club in more than two months.

Hazard has only featured for 296 minutes in all competitions this season, adding a single goal and assist.

And, according to The Athletic, despite his playing future at the club being uncertain, the Belgian will remain with Real Madrid until the end of his deal which runs until June 2024.

After meeting with his staff in Madrid last month to discus his future, Hazard and his team reached an agreement and have decided he wants to stay with Los Blancos for a variety of professional and personal reasons.

The forward has every right to remain at the club, having signed a five-year deal when he arrived as the club's record signing back in 2019.

He is also their highest-paid player and given his recent form, it is unlikely that Hazard would command similar wages anywhere else.

There are also personal reasons for the 32-year-old wanting to remain at Real Madrid, with his family well-settled in the Spanish capital - something that is Hazard's primary concern.

Leo - one of his sons - even last month joined Real's youth academy.

While the initial transfer fee for Hazard was £88.3m, with add-ons potentially rising to £150m, the report also stated that although not all of these have been triggered, the cost for the Belgian has now surpassed the previous club record £90m fee Real paid for Gareth Bale in 2013.

Furthermore, a source close to the player simply said 'no' when asked if there was any scenario in which Hazard would leave this summer.

Hazard has not received any formal interest or offers from other clubs and the only potential sticking point for him staying would be his relationship with the club.

Los Blancos have been trying to move Hazard on over the past few years due to his limited impact - something which has upset the Belgian.
